Resume in Body of Email
I picked this tip up from an article in Money Magazine. Apparently, HR managers are more likely to view your resume if it appears in the body of the email rather than as an attachment to the email. My first thought was formatting would be lost. In order to retain formatting, it's recommended that there are no more than 72 characters, including spaces, per line. Additional formatting such as the placement of the header and subheaders may need to be done. For example, my objective, summary, etc subheads are centered on my resume. To make formatting easier I moved them to the left margin. I predict that a lot of patience will be required to get the formatting right but it may be worth it.
